Disney Wish: My Magical Cruise Experience

Having had the pleasure of sailing on the Disney Wish a couple of times—including a concierge experience—I can confidently say that this ship offers an enchanting voyage unlike any other. With another exciting journey on the Disney Treasure coming up in a couple of months and a future adventure aboard the Disney Destiny next year, my love for Disney Cruise Line only continues to grow.
One of my absolute favorite parts of the cruise is Trivia. Whether it’s musical trivia or Disney-related quizzes, I’m always ready to join in. Admittedly, movie trivia can stump me since I consider myself more of a theme park girly. But regardless of the category, the atmosphere is always lively and full of laughter.
Now, let’s talk about the food—because the Wish (and the Treasure) has some of the best Quick Service options I’ve had at Disney, both on land and at sea. Donald’s Cantina is my go-to for a quick, delicious Taco Bowl. And let’s not forget Minnie's Ice Cream, where the daily rotating flavors are a sweet treat you can enjoy on their own or swirled together. For a late-night craving, Daisy’s Pizza Pies is open until midnight, or you can always order room service—both included in your cruise cost!
A highlight of any Disney Cruise Line voyage is a stop at Castaway Cay. I had the chance to try out the cabanas at Serenity Bay, the adults-only beach. It was a fantastic way to relax, with breathtaking ocean views and a range of amenities like a fresh fruit basket, non-alcoholic beverages, towels, sunscreen, a safe, a mini fridge, and water tubs. The island food is okay—think barbecue, salads, and fresh-cut fruit—but I never skip the soft-serve ice cream.
Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is another incredible destination, set to elevate future Disney Cruise itineraries. It promises to blend Disney magic with the natural beauty and culture of the Bahamas, making it an exciting stop for any traveler.
For those considering a voyage on the Wish, there are two sailing options: a 3-night Friday to Monday cruise or a 4-night Monday to Friday cruise. I’ve done the 4-night sailing twice and found it to be the better option if you want to squeeze in a few park days before or after your cruise. If you prefer a quick weekend getaway following a week at Walt Disney World, the 3-night is a great fit. I always suggest flying in the day before your cruise and staying either at a Disney Resort or the Hyatt at Orlando International Airport. From there, you can catch the Disney shuttle to Port Canaveral, currently priced at $45 per person one way, whether heading to the port or returning to a Disney Resort or MCO.
Fun Fact Easter Eggs:
The Disney Wish has a Cinderella statue in the Grand Hall, with her slipper subtly incorporated into the carpet design.
The ceiling features a beautiful chandelier that changes colors, adding to the fairytale ambiance.
Keep an eye out for nods to classic Disney films woven into the ship’s design—like hidden Pascals from Tangled and references to Beauty and the Beast in the lounges.
Whether you're a seasoned Disney cruiser or planning your first magical voyage, the Disney Wish offers something truly special for everyone. From impeccable dining to dreamy destinations, it’s a floating kingdom of enchantment.
