Theme Park History
Opened in 1995, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park at Walt Disney World Resort offers a whimsical blend of frosty fun and tropical relaxation. The park’s imaginative backstory tells of a freak snowstorm in Florida that led to the creation of the state’s first ski resort—until the sun returned and melted most of the snow, transforming it into a water park. The result is a one-of-a-kind alpine-themed destination where slushy slopes meet splash zones. Blizzard Beach is home to Summit Plummet, one of the world’s tallest and fastest free-fall body slides, as well as family-friendly attractions like Teamboat Springs and the lazy Cross Country Creek. With its snowy décor, ski-lift transport, and playful design, Blizzard Beach delivers a cool escape with all the magic of Disney.
